How to Play PokéWired

PokéWired (also written Pokémon Wired) is a free daily Pokémon puzzle about connecting two Pokémon. You are given a start Pokémon and an end Pokémon, with empty slots in between. Your job is to fill those slots so that the whole chain links up — a bit like building a bridge of Pokémon between two points.

The goal

Every line between two neighbouring Pokémon is a connection — a rule that both of them have to satisfy. For example, a connection might require that the two Pokémon share a type, belong to the same evolution line, or that the left one is super effective against the right one. The puzzle is solved when every connection in the path is valid (green).

Step by step

1. Tap an empty slot in the chain.
2. Search for a Pokémon by name or Pokédex number and pick it.
3. Tap any connection between two Pokémon to see exactly which rule it asks for.
4. A connection turns green when it is satisfied and red when the two Pokémon do not match.
5. When every connection is green, the path is complete and you win. Try to do it in as few moves as possible for a better score.

Three games, daily or unlimited

PokéWired is three games that share the same connections: Classic (fill the path between two Pokémon), Sort (put the Pokémon you're given in the right order) and Chain (keep the chain alive as long as you can). Each one can be played two ways — Daily, the same board for everyone that day, or Unlimited, endless random ones — in Normal or Hard difficulty, with optional hints that reveal the data each connection looks at. Every game keeps its own streak, so playing one doesn't oblige you to play the other two.

Chain mode (an endless Pokémon chain, sometimes called PokéChain) is the survival twist: a Pokémon and a rule appear, you pick a Pokémon that satisfies the connection, it becomes the new head, and a fresh rule appears. No Pokémon can repeat. The daily chain gives everyone the same start and the same rules with 4 lives and one try a day; in Unlimited you choose 1, 3 or endless lives and run as many times as you want.

Sort mode (sometimes called PokéSort) turns the puzzle around: instead of searching for Pokémon, you get the ones you need and a list of attributes, and you sort the Pokémon until every attribute between two neighbours holds — heavier, faster, taller, lower Pokédex number. It has its own daily board, the same one for everyone, plus unlimited random ones. The Sort mode guide lists every attribute you can sort by.

Tips

• Start with the connection that has the fewest possible answers — it usually locks the rest of the chain into place.
• Each Pokémon you place affects the connections on both of its sides, so a single card often solves two connections at once.
• Turn on hints if you get stuck: they show the type, evolution and other data that the connections care about.
• A Pokémon's card glows green only when all of its connections are satisfied, so use the cards to track your progress at a glance.
